Green Tribute Questions

  • Something happening to your tree in the short-term is an unlikely occurrence because the trees in our forests are healthy and we care for them and the property as a whole. But trees are natural beings, and over time if something does happen to your tree if no ashes have been spread, we will help you or your loved ones find another established tree. If ashes have been spread we work with you to replant a tree or otherwise make sure we represent the best possible outcome for the location of your spreading area.

  • Yes. Choosing your final resting place is a deeply personal decision, and we think the honor of choosing your memorial tree should be yours. Something may strike you about a particular tree, such as its unique features, view, or surrounding landscape. That’s what makes choosing your tree such a special experience. You can talk with an advisor after ordering for help picking a tree that’s uniquely yours.

  • Yes. We maintain trails for you and your loved ones to easily navigate our forests.

  • Ashes are mixed with local soil so they won’t cause harm when they are returned to the base of your tree. This also ensures that, as the bacteria in the soil naturally breaks down bone ashes over time, the ashes become bioavailable to the forest.

The chemical composition of ashes primarily includes phosphate, calcium, and potassium. While large concentrations of these minerals can indeed be harmful to the environment, Afterlife Adventures’ introduction of ashes mixed with native soil will not cause any significant impacts to environmental or human health on site.

  • Two loved ones ashes may be spread on your location. Additional ashes may be introduced but there are limitations to the number of ashes that can be safely spread at your tree over its lifetime. An associate can help customize your service.

Ocean Tribute Questions

  • Artificial reefs provide shelter, food and other necessary elements for biodiversity and a productive ocean. This in turn creates a rich diversity of marine life, attracting divers and anglers. And states like the program because the increased tourism and commercial fishing benefits local economies.

  • Yes. Our Reef Memorials are placed in public reef sites, open for fishing, diving and recreational use. Families are provided GPS coordinates so they can visit as often as they wish.

  • Cremains do not dissolve in the ocean's waters. However, being a coarse, gritty, sand-like substance, the ashes will scatter throughout the ocean with no negative effects. The EPA allows for cremated remains to be spread 3 nautical miles from land.

  • Not likely. Our Memorial reefs are built to be permanent structures. Due to natural acts of God or unforseen weather events there is no guarantee but that’s exactly what the reef is built to protect.

Afterlife Tribute Questions

  • When the time comes, after cremation. Cremains are shipped to Afterlife Adventures and safely stored on location.

  • A proprietary mix of cremated ashes, oyster shell & clay.

  • Yes depending on the size and scale of each service. An associate can help select the proper amount of cremains suggested for each item.

  • The average burial, plot, and headstone costs around $15,000 per person. We offer a range of prices for any budget — some at less than half the cost of a traditional burial.

  • Not presently, but we are working to include one soon!
